The supreme Court halts banning of the old naria notes  The Supreme Court today Wednesday temporarily halted the move by the federal government to ban the use of the old naira notes from February 10, 2023. A seven-member panel led by Justice John Okoro, halted the move of the federal government in a ruling in an exparte application brought by three northern states of Kaduna, Kogi and Zamfara.   CBN extends deadline of old naria notes till February 10: buhari approved. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has announced a 10-day extension of the deadline for using old Naira banknotes across Nigeria.    The CBN governor, speaking to reporters on Sunday morning, said he has President Muhammadu Buhari's approval for the extension.    The new deadline is now February 10 instead of the previous January 31 deadline, he said.    Mr. Emefiele spoke in Daura, Katsina state, after meeting with the president, who is in his home state on official business.    Emefiele said Nigerians who have yet to change their naira banknotes from the old to the new now have the opportunity to do so.    He said people must seize the opportunity because the deadline will no longer be extended.
